Ingredients

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Miracle Whip Dressing
  • Dijon Mustard
  • Jalapeno pepper
  • Paprika

You can add salt and pepper to taste if you like the additional flavor. If you want to add even more spice to these you can sprinkle hot sauce over the top.

If you are not a fan of spicy foods you can cut back on the jalapeno peppers or smoked paprika. Try Garlic Powder for a fun twist on classic deviled eggs.

2. Combine Miracle Whip, Dijon Mustard and diced jalapeno pepper with egg yolks

FAQs

Why put white vinegar in deviled eggs? ›

A light-colored vinegar, like the white-wine vinegar we use in these creamy deviled eggs, brings a touch of acidity to the filling and balances the richness of the yolks and the mayonnaise.

Why do people put paprika on deviled eggs? ›

People put paprika on deviled eggs as a garnish for serving. A dusting of paprika contrasts nicely with the white and yellow of the egg for visual effect and it also adds a smoky, sweet flavor to the deviled egg.

Is it better to make deviled eggs day before or day of? ›

I like these deviled eggs best on the day they're made. If you're making them for a party or gathering, I don't recommend assembling them more than a few hours in advance. Store them in the fridge until you're ready to eat, and wait to add the garnishes until right before serving.

What is a thickening agent for deviled eggs? ›

Instant mashed potatoes (which doubles as a surprising thickener for soups) can save your deviled eggs. To pull this off, all you need to do is add the flakes directly to your filling in small doses, mixing well each time.

What vinegar is best for eggs? ›

You should always rinse your eggs with lukewarm water before cooking them to kill any bad bacteria they may contain. If you include a few drops of white vinegar in the rinse, it will be even more effective. Vinegar is not just utilitarian. It doesn't just help cleanse your eggs or help you peel their shells easier.

What does vinegar do to a egg? ›

The vinegar contains ethanoic acid (also known as acetic acid), which reacts with calcium carbonate in the eggshell. One product of the reaction is carbon dioxide gas, which appears as little bubbles forming on the eggshell. Over time, this chemical reaction dissolves away the hard eggshell.

What seasoning does Gordon Ramsay use for eggs? ›

Remove from heat when eggs are clumpy, but soft. Season with freshly ground black pepper and garnish with a sprinkling of chopped chives.

When should I add seasoning to eggs? ›

Instead of immediately seasoning your eggs with salt and pepper while they are still raw, wait to sprinkle on seasonings until the end of the cooking process. Seasoning eggs before cooking gives the salt too much time to break the eggs down and turn them into a watery mess.

How many deviled eggs per person? ›

How many deviled eggs do you need per person? Plan 2 to 3 deviled eggs per person for your get-together. A dozen eggs will make 24 deviled eggs, and that will be enough for 8 to 12 people. If you have leftovers you can store them in the fridge for 24 hours and snack on them the next day.

What to use instead of mustard in deviled eggs? ›

She mashes the yolks and adds mayonnaise, mustard and sweet pickle relish. She thoroughly mashes everything together so there aren't any lumps and adds pepper and salt to taste.

What if I put too much mayo in my deviled eggs? ›

What is a substitute for vinegar in deviled eggs? ›

Dijon Mustard - Yellow mustard can be used as a substitute. Salt - Be sure to taste the yolk mixture to see if you need any additional salt before filling the eggs. Sweet Pickle Relish Juice- Relish juice is a good substitute for vinegar that many people use when making deviled eggs.

What does adding vinegar to egg white do? ›

In scientific terms the acid helps to denature, or break down, the coils of amino acids in the egg white's proteins so that they become long strands instead. When these strands are whisked they join together around the bubbles of air and make a foam which can then have sugar added to make meringue.

Why add vinegar to hard boiled eggs? ›

The vinegar in the water makes the eggs easier to peel. Here's why: The vinegar's acid not only dissolves some of the calcium carbonate in the shell, it also helps the whites set faster. Running the hard-boiled eggs under cold running water as you're peeling, meanwhile, helps the shell separate from the membrane.

Is distilled white vinegar the same as white vinegar? ›

Now, don't confuse distilled with basic white vinegar, which is stronger and has up to 25% acetic acid. That vinegar is sold exclusively for cleaning purposes and is not a good idea to ingest. However, beyond cooking, distilled white vinegar can be used for many of the same household chores.
