In this post, I show you adorable Valentine’s Day decor perfect for college dorm rooms. These dorm room decor ideas are perfect to DIY, and they are simple enough that you can throw them up in less than an hour. Cheap, Pinterest perfect decor ideas for any college dorm room!

Here are 17 Valentine’s Day decor ideas perfect for college dorm rooms.

Valentine’s Dorm Room Decor Ideas

Door Banners

Door banners are one of the simplest ways to quickly add some decor to your dorm room. Door banners are cheap, easy to put up, and are big enough to make a statement.

1 – Simple Happy Valentine’s Day

Here’s a super cheap one, just reading “Happy Valentine’s Day.” If you’re looking for something super cheap to just throw up the last minute, this is a great option.

2 – Burlap Hearts

Burlap is such a cute decor material, and I love how this banner just has some simple hearts on top of the burlap. If you didn’t think that the banner above could get any simpler, here it is:

3 – Pink Felt Hearts

If you don’t like making your own DIY garland or banner for Valentine’s Day decor, this is a great alternative. They literally just made it for you. Perfect!

Lights

Lights are the perfect decor addition for any holiday, and you can always find holiday-specific strings of lights to help to all of your decorating needs. I included my favorite all-purpose lights that can stay up year-round and Valentine’s Day specific lights.

4 – Red Hearts

These are so cute to string along your wall, or even hang some pictures from. I really like the idea of stringing these lights between some bunk beds or on the bottom of a lofted bed.

5 – LOVE Sign

This sign is SO cute, and it can definitely be used year-round. However, this is a great piece to add during Valentine’s, since it will be especially relevant during that time.

6 – Ride or Die String Lights

If you don’t have some general string lights yet, now is the time to get them. When we were decorating my partners, Ian, house for the holidays, we found that with enough string lights strung around the room it creates a fantastic light source. These lights are cheap enough to do that!

7 – Neon Heart Sign

I love the look of this sign. It’s definitely an accent piece, and this is another example of something that can be left up year-round. What’s not to love?

Throw Pillows

Throw pillows!!! Throw pillows are a great way to add a theme to any room, especially around any holidays. I really recommend getting throw pillow inserts, 18 x 18 inches, and then getting various throw pillow covers to change your entire look as the months go on. Individual throw pillows can get expensive, and this way you have a base of throw pillows that you know you can change up at any time. Here are my favorite throw pillow inserts:

8 – Red and White Checker

Super simple, super cute, and I think that these pillow covers will also look really good during fall.

9 – Kissing Booth

This throw pillow, while it can most likely only be used during Valentine’s Day season, is super adorable. I really like all of the different fonts, and it makes me think of the movie, “The Kissing Booth.” (It’s on Netflix, you need to watch it.)

10 – LOVE – Set of 4

When I saw this set of throw pillows, I knew it was just perfect for a dorm room bed. The color combination is perfect, and I like how the letters use a really simple font.

11 – Simple, Rustic, Hearts

The print on this throw pillow cover is so cute! I think this throw pillow would look especially cute if it was paired with a solid red, textured pillow, which I included below.

Flowers

There’s no denying it, flowers are an absolute staple of Valentine’s Day. This being said, don’t feel pressure to buy someone else or yourself fresh flowers. There are tons of decor ideas that use flower inspired prints, and they’re worth investing in around Valentine’s Day. Here are my favorites.

12 – Flowers, Jars, and Lights

I absolutely love how rustic this decor is. Who says everything for Valentine’s Day decor needs to be red or pink? These jars of lights and flowers are SO cute to hang in a dorm room.

13 – Pink Peony Wreath

This pink peony wreath is perfect to hang on your dorm room door. I really like it when people decorate their dorm room doors, even when they don’t decorate the insides of their dorms. This is a super cute way to do just this.

14 – LED Rose Garland

Looking to mix lights and some roses? This is exactly how you do it! I really like the idea of stringing these along a wall or along a bedframe. So cute!

Self-Care

Self-Care is important every day, and Valentine’s season is a great time to show yourself some extra love. I find that practicing a lot of self-care during college helps keep stress levels and any anxiety down, and its a fantastic way to unwind and relax. Here are a few of my favorite self-care tips and items!

15 – Self-Care Sticker Book

I use a planner and google calendar like no other, and I love decorating my planner with tons of stickers to remind myself of different things. Adding self-care stickers is a great way to do this!

16 – 64 oz. Water

This one took a while to get used to, but I feel so much better drinking this much water throughout the day. I use my Hydro Flask, which is 32oz, and I just drink two of them. Super easy!

17 – No Screens/Reading Before Bed

When I get really stressed and busy, I tend to work on my laptop right up until it’s 1 in the morning and I desperately need to go to bed. Then, I lay awake for an hour trying to get my mind to calm down. Now, I turn off all of my screens at 10, including plugging in my phone and not looking at it anymore, and then reading if I’m not super tired yet. This has helped my sleep schedule tremendously, and I highly recommend trying it.
